The Unsunned Snow

c.2017 oil on canvas

40in. x 30in.  ±101.6cm. x 76.2cm.

These blues are a signature to many Tim Cantor paintings.  Two paintings that came before The Unsunned Snow inspired this woven succession; The Hollows and Beauty's Privilege.  The intent was to bring both their individual meanings together in this cobalt rendition.

Bed of Roses

oil on panel, c.2021.

uf. 18in. x 22in.  ±45.7cm. x 55.9cm.

Created during the Covid lockdowns of 2019-2020, Tim Cantor painted this image as a metaphor for the simplicity that being forced not to work brought.  But after so long, the rest becomes a burden - a constraint that restrains the ambitious ones.  The bizarre times rung in an awareness; that balance is the key to everything.  Rest is good.  Being forced to rest is not, at least for some.

Relevé

oil on panel, c.2021.

uf. 12in. x 9in.  ±30.5cm. x 22.9cm.

There are paintings that Tim Cantor creates that have no describable meaning.  Relevé is indeed one of those paintings.  His best effort is to say that this is a mélange of many inspirations.  The elegance of the flamingo with the oddities of his imagination, mixed with a balletic sense.  The windows, in some paintings, have implied the future - and all of its possibilities.
